Eternal Perspective

Although it's easy to get so caught up in the day-to-day hustle and bustle of life, keeping an eternal perspective is essential. What's an eternal perspective? It's living this life in a manner pleasing to God. If you disagree, go no further. This site isn't for you.

Do we live a life of service or a life seeking pleasure? 2 Timothy 3:1-5 says, "But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; and avoid such men as these."

The truth is, we are either lovers of God or lovers of pleasure—we can't be both! If we love God, that is where we will find true, eternal pleasure: "Thou wilt make known to me the path of life; in Thy presence is fulness of joy; in Thy right hand there are pleasures forever." — Psalm 16:11

Why the Gospel?

Jesus said, "The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John; since then the gospel of the kingdom of God is preached ..." — Luke 16:16

And "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a witness to all the nations, and then the end shall come. " — Matthew 24:14

This is the time-frame which we are living in—the time of the gospel of the kingdom of God being preached to all.

Why full Gospel?

In general, people believe what they want to believe. Those who want structure will tend to go to a church that's very dogmatic. Those who want low levels of commitment will often go to a large 'seeker friendly' church. We tend to have favorite scriptures and others we avoid.

The Full Gospel is to believe in the whole Bible, regardless of what you may naturally gravitate to. This does not allow us to ignore difficult scriptures such as the book of 1 Peter which is loaded with scriptures on suffering according to the will of God.

The gifts of the spirit

There is much discussion about whether the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today or not. People who believe in 'dispensationalism' take one section of scripture (5 versus) and make a major doctrine from it. This is foolish at best.

A sound doctrine may have a key verse, but it should be backed up in many places in the Bible, both Old and New Testaments.

This is similar to the Jehovah's Witnesses believing that Jesus was an archangel based on 2 verses in the Bible. If you can only find 2 verses out of thousands to back up a claim, you can be assured it's a false doctrine. Click here for more about this.
